In a recent effort to get VDOT to install a traffic light at Pocono Drive and Midlothian Turnpike, VDOT did what they call an "evaluation" of our traffic and this is the result:

"The Department completed the evaluation of signal warrants at this location. As was the case with previous studies, the intersection did not meet the established warrants for a traffic signal. The warrants are established in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) which is a national standard. I have attached a copy of the signal warrant analysis. It should also be noted that this location does not meet the current VDOT spacing requirements for signals as defined in the current access management standards." --Dale R. Totten, P.E., VDOT

The Board is disappointed by this finding and is looking into alternate ways to improve the safety and convenience of our neighborhood entrance.
