Several years ago, the Pocono Civic Association (PCA) inquired of VDOT and Chesterfield County as to how to get some "Children at Play" signs put up along Pocono Drive. Their response was that such signs are not legal. They indicated that since the Code of Virginia prohibits children playing on public roads, it would not be legal to put up such signs because it would "give children a false sense of security and encourage them to break the law." (We don't make this stuff up, that's what they really said!)
