The Board is currently planning for the 2009 meeting schedule. Board of Directors meetings are typically closed, but the Board is looking into holding member forums more often than just the Annual Meeting. The Board meetings are closed to allow the Directors a chance to vigorously discuss and thrash out ideas and issues before presenting a unified position to the members. Any member in good standing may request Agenda time during a Board of Directors meeting to present an issue or idea directly to the Board. Any such requests should be directed to the Presiden. All requests are responded to with either a scheduling for presentation or a request to submit the issue in writing instead. But ultimately, ANY and ALL issues can be presented directly to the Board in some form so as to assure that the Board is able to work with all possible information while serving the Members. |

Absolutely! All non-owner residents are invited to apply to join the Pocono Civic Association as General Members. Simply submit an application and the current dues. The Board of Directors will then consider your application and vote you in so long as your residency and payment are in order. Non-owner residents who have been voted in as General Members have full voting rights in PCA, so long as their membership is in good standing. |

Several years ago, the Pocono Civic Association (PCA) inquired of VDOT and Chesterfield County as to how to get some "Children at Play" signs put up along Pocono Drive. Their response was that such signs are not legal. They indicated that since the Code of Virginia prohibits children playing on public roads, it would not be legal to put up such signs because it would "give children a false sense of security and encourage them to break the law." (We don't make this stuff up, that's what they really said!) |

When you purchased property in the Pocono Subdivision, you automatically became a member of the Pocono Civic Association (PCA) as the successor to the previous property owner. The Annual Fees help pay for maintenance of all property owned by and easements controlled by the PCA, upkeep of the pool and tennis courts, upkeep of the entrance monuments, landscape maintenance along the entrance to Pocono, insurance, electricity for streetlights and signage, along with a host of other responsibilities of the PCA. Quite honestly, our dues are minimal and the PCA does everything it can to keep costs low and service levels high. We frequently have "cleanup days" where we ask our residents to volunteer their time to help with projects and thus save the PCA valuable funds. We do not receive any tax dollars, so it is up to the residents of Pocono to take care of the common elements of our neighborhood. Please don't be a freeloader--pay your dues on time and in full so we can all do our part to maintain the high quality of life we enjoy in Pocono. A well-maintained neighborhood means a friendly, safe and pleasant neighborhood where well-maintained property values benefit all of us. |
